Stop using the word "liberal"; you sound ignorant.

In the USA there is a Democratic Party, which many Americans regard as
being the left wing of their two party system; and they are in the
habit of referring to Democrats, and to anyone, in any country, who is
left of the American center, even to socialists, as liberals. This
usage should be deprecated. Using the word "liberal" to refer to the
anti-globalist anti-free trade anti-immigration prohibitionist parts
of the left should be put alongside using "begging the question" to
mean "raising the question" and using "Immaculate Conception" to refer
to virgin birth.

To everyone in these newgroups who uses liberal to mean something like
socialist: when people in India or China use the phrase "economic
liberalization" (pejoratively or not), what do you suppose they mean?
When communists speak of "bourgeois-liberal ideas", what do you
suppose they mean?

Of course -- the Democrats are LEFTISTS, and quite doctorinare at that.
Liberalism implies intelligent tolerance and ability to learn new things.
Our Democrats (leftists) are doctorinare and essentially the mind
numbed robots that they claim others to be.

For 'liberalism' and exporting freedom and enlightenment, please refer
to the JFKesque George W. Bush. On the other hand, the attempt to
namecall is alot like the old McCarthy guy -- and he would fit in very
well with the current doctorinare, narrow minded Democrats.

So, yes, it is incorrect to call the current Democrats as being 'liberal'.

MAKE THE PIE HIGHER
by George W. Bush

I think we all agree, the past is over.
This is still a dangerous world.
It's a world of madmen and uncertainty
and potential mental losses.

Rarely is the question asked
Is our children learning?
Will the highways of the Internet become more few?

How many hands have I shacked?
They misunderestimate me.
I am a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity.

I know that the human being and the fish can coexist.
Families is where our nation finds hope, where
our wings take dream.

Put food on your family!
Knock down the tollbooth!
Vulcanize Society!
Make the pie higher! Make the pie higher!

If there's a child on the south side of Chicago who can't read, that
matters to me, even if it's not my child. If there's a senior citizen
somewhere who can't pay for her prescription and has to choose between
medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it's not my
grandmother. If there's an Arab American family being rounded up without
benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties.
It's that fundamental belief-I am my brother's keeper, I am my sisters'
keeper-that makes this country work. It's what allows us to pursue our
individual dreams, yet still come together as a single American family.

Welfare State is not a dirty word. It simply means that the government has
a concern and responsibility that the standard of living shall not fall
below a certain level. The Democratic Party has been meeting this
responsibility since FDR
